Chesterfield police are trying to catch two men they say shot at an officer back in September on Jeff Davis Highway near Walmsley Boulevard, near the Richmond-Chesterfield line.

Investigators say it started at the Rainbow Motel on Jeff Davis Highway, which was where police saw two men acting suspiciously. Later, police say they learned the men robbed someone at the motel. Police continued following from a distance, and they say one of the men fired a shot at one of the officers. The men got away in the Lancelot Avenue area.

Officers released a picture of the men and are asking for the public's help to identify them. The men are described as being 20 to 30 years old. Police say the man who fired the shot was about 6' tall with short dreadlocks pulled back in a ponytail. The second man is described as 5'6" with a light complexion, with a red beard and red hair.
