Ethics. Good ethical behavior is the cornerstone to character and one’s character defines who you are and if you can be trusted. The ethical standards of business people, politicians and ordinary citizens affects everyone’s way of life every day. Good ethical behavior must become a habit in youth so that it becomes permanent in adult life.
For the past ten years Junior Achievement of Central Virginia has partnered with local executives, community leaders and business owners to teach high school students the value of ethics in the business world. From November 10 - 13 area high schools will be blanked with volunteers who believe in the importance of supporting the ideals of pursuing goals in a moral and ethical manner.
These volunteers spend one hour in a classroom setting discussing basic terminology and concepts surrounding the study of ethics. I have personally seen students reevaluate their own perception of ethics through the practices outlined in Junior Achievement’s program Empowered through Ethics.
