VCU picked fifth, Spiders sixth in Atlantic 10 preseason poll

VCU picked 5th, Spiders 6th, in Atlantic 10 preseason poll

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - VCU has been picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 men's basketball preseason poll, while Richmond has been chosen sixth. The poll was released on Tuesday morning at the conference's annual basketball media day.

Dayton is the preseason conference favorite, followed by Rhode Island, Davidson and George Washington.

Four local players were named to the all-conference third team. VCU's Melvin Johnson and Mo Alie-Cox, and Richmond's Terry Allen and ShawnDre' Jones each earned honors. In addition, Alie-Cox was named to the all-defensive team.

Both teams open their 2015-2016 seasons on November 13 with the Rams hosting Prarie View A&M and the Spiders welcoming James Madison. Below is the full Atlantic 10 men's basketball preseason poll:
