HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - Citizens jumped from their cars to pull a little girl and her family to safety after their car ran off of Interstate 295 north.
Emergency crews are still on the scene of the crash which occurred just before 5 p.m. near the Meadowbridge Road exit. The car went off the road and into a ravine, according to witnesses. Smoke came from the car as it came to a rest upside-down off the interstate.
People driving by pulled over and came out of their cars to assist the family. The child, a girl who appeared to be under 10 years old, appeared to be pulled to safety. A man and woman were also rescued from the vehicle and appeared to be taken by ambulance from the scene.
NBC12 has a crew on the scene and is working to determine the cause of the crash and extent of the injuries.
