Shots fired at Chesterfield Police officer

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Police are investigating shots fired at a Chesterfield officer in an unmarked vehicle.

The shots were fired just one mile from the triple death investigation on Walmsley Blvd. Police say one of their plain-clothes officers was driving north on Jefferson Davis Highway when he saw two men acting suspiciously at the Rainbow Motel. The activity was later determined to be a robbery, according to Chesterfield Police. He called for backup, and started to follow the suspects onto Dale Avenue in his unmarked car.

One of the men pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the officer's vehicle and fired a single shot. The shot missed the car and the officer was not injured.

Dale Avenue was closed for some time as police investigated. The suspects ran off and were last seen in the 2400 block of Lancelot Avenue.

Both suspects were described as black males wearing dark-colored clothing. The suspect who fired the shot was further described as being about 5'10" to 6'and weighing about 160 to 180 lbs.
