GOOCHLAND, VA (WWBT) -

A major accident happened on Rt. 288 Tuesday near the Broad Street exit.

Victoria Randall and her friend Tasia Nious pulled over and tried to help pull out a 36-year-old man trapped inside his SUV.  They say they can't get the image of the flaming car crash out of their minds.

"It was very disturbing," Randall says. "My heart as racing, and my head was spinning. I’ve never seen anything like that before."

Others, like Marvin Martinez, by stopped to help too.

"I was riding with my wife, and I saw the SUV," he says. "I saw the man trapped in there, and I saw the people trying to open the door.  I asked my wife to stop."

He was headed to a job interview but says he just couldn't just drive off.

"It was a man getting burned inside, and you have to do whatever you can to help a human being." Martinez explains.

He's worried about the man's condition.

"I've been praying for him," Martinez says. "I've been praying for him."

According to state police, 36 year-old Raheim Watson was flown to VCU Medical Center.  At last check, his injuries were life-threatening.

All three people say they hope they never witness anything like that again, but if they did, they wouldn't hesitate to help out all over again.
