DAY AHEAD: Final preparations for Richmond 2015 opening ceremony

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Tomorrow, the opening ceremonies begin for the big 'Richmond 2015' bike championships. Our own cycling enthusiast Andrew Freiden will be there on his bicycle!

Right now, there are several road closures in effect, and some major Richmond streets will be shutting down in just hours.

Starting at 3 p.m., no cars allowed on Monument Avenue between Davis Avenue and Belvidere Street. All cars will have to be moved until the very end of the race. That's 575 spots closed off on Monument Avenue.

But you have alternatives - you can park overnight at Fox Elementary or Binford Middle Schools. The old GRTC bus barn on Cary Street will be opened for parking day and night. Broad Street parking is opening up overnight on Broad Street to equal the number of spots lost on Monument.

You can get all of this information - maps, parking, TV schedule and an event rundown - on NBC12.com and our free mobile app under Richmond 2015.
