Ex-church youth group leader accused of sexual battery

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A former church youth group leader is accused of inappropriately touching a juvenile.

Chesterfield Police say 45-year-old Jeffrey D. Clark is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery.

According to investigators, Clark had inappropriately touched a juvenile male -- who is known to him -- on two different occasions in the past year.

Clark is a former volunteer youth group leader at Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. Police say he met the victim through his role as the youth group leader.

According to parishioners, Clark was removed from his post in August because of similar allegations of misconduct. He has been with the church for about six years.

Clark is currently being held in the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.

Police are continuing their investigation into this case. Anyone with information should contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660 or www.crimesolvers.net.
