RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - It's the 'big day' for kids across Virginia and our area - BACK TO SCHOOL!
Moms and dads are helping pick out outfits and pack lunches, and teenagers are being yelled at to get out of bed.
Certainly a lot of excitement and jitters - all of those mixed emotions on the first day of school. But back-to-school time affects everyone. That means all of us now sharing the road with these children, during the morning commute.
It's extremely important to be extra careful behind the wheel. Give yourself extra time getting out Tuesday.
Hundreds of buses will be out on the roads, making stops to pick up and drop off kids. There could be some detours. This could all easily add time to your ride.
A lot of extra police will be patrolling the roads today, making sure no one is speeding through school zones or running past a school bus.
