BLACKSBURG, VA (WWBT) - Virginia Tech lost to No. 1 Ohio State 42-24 despite having a 17-14 lead at halftime.
The Hokies also lost starting quarterback Michael Brewer to a broken collar bone after getting hit in the third quarter. Brewer will undergo surgery Tuesday and could miss 4-6 weeks.
After the Buckeyes raced out to a 14-0 first quarter lead, Virginia Tech scored the final 17 points of the first half including a touchdown reception for former Hanover High School star Sam Rogers.
Ohio State opened the third quarter with a Braxton Miller touchdown reception and then after Brewer was lost for the game added three more touchdowns to open the second half on a 28-0 run.
