Daviess Co., KY Public Library starts instrument check out program

For the first time, the Daviess County Public Library is offering a new kind of check out and it's not books, but instruments.

Just last week, the public library launched their "Stay Tuned" instrument lending program. You can check out everything from keyboards and guitars, to banjos and mandolins for up to 4 weeks.

Jarrod McCarty with the library said they got the idea from other libraries in the county offering the program.  Jarrod said they're already working on improving the program by bringing in an online music tutorial.

It's something he's very passionate and excited about.

"I've always been a life long music lover, and I was always intimidated with the idea. So, to be able to come to the library and be able to pick up an instrument that has something tangible you can go home and practice with, and then maybe consider lessons on your own, it could open up a lot of possibilities," McCarty said.

Most of the instruments are already out the doors, but there is a waiting list. If you're interested, you can contact the public library and they'll put you on the list.
