A vehicle fire that shut down all lanes of traffic on Interstate 64 in Henrico led to some big rush hour delays on Friday afternoon.
The fire happened near the I-295 interchange (mile marker 200). Traffic was diverted for a time at Exit 200, to bypass the closure. Police reopened the road around 5:15 p.m., but not before it led to a backup of more than six miles.
A VDOT traffic camera also showed what appears to be a rubbernecking-related fender bender in the left lane of I-64 East, which is starting to cause delays on that side of the road.
Officials say that by 6 p.m. the residual backup delays had cleared.
