RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A security guard has been indicted following the death of a man at VCU Medical Center.

George Brown, 67, faces involuntary manslaughter after he was indicted on Wednesday.

The charge came following the death of 64-year-old Philip Whitaker, who died two days after he was severely hurt in what witnesses describe as a violent clash with the security guard.

"I saw [the security guard] grab him and throw him. I said, ‘Oh my gosh,’ and then I saw blood and I said, ‘He's hurt bad,’" said Vickie Fields. She was at VCU's outpatient pharmacy when she says she saw the security guard approach Whitaker.

VCU says the guard is a contract worker and is no longer working at the pharmacy.
