RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond Police say a man was shot to death while sitting inside a car on Tuesday night.

The shooting happened in the 2800 block Dunn Avenue around 9 p.m. Police Chief Alfred Durham says the victim was driving in his car when he was shot multiple times. His car then crashed into another vehicle. Arriving officers found the victim dead inside his car.

It's the second shooting Richmond Police are investigating over the course of a few hours.  Earlier in the day, a woman was sitting in her car when she was shot in the abdomen at the Midlothian Village Apartments. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There's no word on any suspects in that shooting.

Police do not believe the two shootings are related.
