Sex traffickers caught in New Kent sentenced

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A man and woman convicted of sex trafficking and brutally torturing their victim will will spend decades in prison.

Aldair Hodza was sentenced to 41 years and eight months Friday in federal court in Richmond. Laura Sorensen was sentenced to 40 years. Hodza and Sorensen pleaded guilty to sex trafficking by force and transporting a girl across state lines for prostitution.

The pair admitted to luring their 20-year-old victim into an R.V., drugging her, repeatedly sexually assaulting and abusing her and then forcing her into prostitution through Craigslist and along truck stops.

A trucker at a New Kent gas station spotted the girl in the R.V., suspected a suspicious situation and called police.

Defense attorneys and prosecutors recommended prison terms of 35 years - 11 more than the top end of the sentencing guideline range. But U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson said that wasn't enough, citing the "unprecedented depravity" in the case.
