CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield fire crews are working to extinguish a blaze at a Midlothian home.

The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. at a home in the 13600 block of Rivermist Road, not far from Weaver Elementary School. When crews arrived they saw flames coming from the front of the home. Firefighters are still on-scene and receiving help from Powhatan Fire crews. The house is badly damaged and the flames kept firefighters from going inside the home. Several firefighters were called in to help relive crews, due to the hot conditions.

Everyone was able to safely get out safely.

This is the second major house fire in as many days in Chesterfield.  Firefighters battled another blaze that severely damaged another home on Tuesday afternoon. No word on the cause of that fire.
