RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond leaders announced the transportation plans Wednesday for next month's UCI Road World Cycling Championships.
The Fan, Shockoe Bottom, Church Hill and downtown will see the biggest impacts from the race, with road closures and parking restrictions throughout the week. There will be specific points where vehicles will be allowed to cross the course, and the closures are largely between morning and afternoon.

The races will run September 19 - 27 and an Opening Ceremony will be held on Sept. 18 at Brown's Island. The entertainment for the free event has not yet been announced, but American Idol star and Richmond native Rayvon Owen will sing the National Anthem. Among the largest closures:
- Broad Street will be closed from 3rd to 7th streets from Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. to Sept. 30.
- Interstate 95 Exit 74C West Broad Street will be closed from Sept. 19 - 27. The East Broad Street exit will remain open to northbound traffic.
- Monument Avenue from Davis Avenue to Belvidere Street will be prohibited from Sept. 17 - 29.
Parking and shuttles will be available at City Stadium, Diamond and the parking lot at Broad Street and Staples Mill Road. Parking costs $10 per day. GRTC will also offer a $35 unlimited ride pass from September 18 - 28.
