HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - A man is behind bars facing a first degree murder charge in a Hanover shooting death, according to sheriffs.

US Marshals located Justin Valentino Mason of Richmond early Tuesday morning and arrested him for the shooting death of Craig Michael Bates on June 27. The Medical Examiner ruled Bates died of a gunshot wound.

Mason, 25, is being held without bond at Pamunkey Regional Jail on murder and gun charges. Bates was found dead in the 1500 block of Mickie Town Road.

"I am proud of the efforts of our investigative team and the efforts of our law enforcement partners in the region including the U.S. Marshals Service for their efforts up to this point. Although an arrest has been made, we will continue to make sure all evidence is identified to ensure support of a successful prosecution," said Colonel David R. Hines.
