Police ID victim recovered from Chesterfield pond, near Jessup Road

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Police have identified the victim who fell into a pond in Chesterfield and drowned Monday afternoon.

Chesterfield Fire and EMS crews found the body of Linwood Chester Jr., 47, in the water around 2:45 p.m.

According to Chesterfield Fire, Chester Jr. was fishing at a pond in the 6500 block of Jessup Road when he fell into the water around 1 p.m.

A witness says he went under and did not surface.

At about 2:45 p.m., members of the Scuba Rescue Team recovered his body.

Police are investigating, but at this point no foul play is suspected.

A woman who has lived in the neighborhood for 17 years tells NBC12 she can remember two other drownings during that time.
