HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A Henrico man is behind bars, accused of abducting a Virginia teen and sexually assaulting her.

State Police arrested Aaron Berg, 28, on Thursday night at a relative's house in Hanover and charged him with several felonies, including sodomy, strangulation, and abduction.

The 18-year-old girl managed to escape from Berg by dashing out of his car when he pulled over on the side of Interstate 95 Thursday afternoon, according to State Police.

The calls for help came in around 1:36 p.m. Thursday, claiming an abduction was going on and telling officers to look out for a vehicle headed north through Prince William on I-95. It took troopers just 15 minutes to track down the vehicle, which pulled over on the side of the road near Dale City. The teen managed to jump out and run off, though Berg tried to chase her down, police said.

She was able to escape and troopers took her to Fairfax Inova Hospital. Troopers say Berg got back in his car and sped off, only to be captured later Thursday night without a fight at a family member's residence in Hanover.

As Berg was on the run officers surround his home on Greenwood Glen Drive in Glen Allen.  "It's quite scary that last weekend he was standing in my driveway, in my lawn and now he's in jail," says neighbor Danielle Heil.  "There were state troopers down at this end, there were marked Henrico Police further down," says neighbor Heather Walker.

The woman say they're glad the teenager got away.  "I'm proud of her, good for her for fighting and getting out," says Walker.  "I'm hoping she will recover and find her strength and he will stay behind bars where he can't hurt another person."

Officers say the Prince Edward teen and Berg knew each other before the abduction and assault. The criminal investigation remains ongoing at this time.
