One of the greatest gifts we have in this country and in our state of Virginia is the National Parks system. July 2015 celebrates 30 years of National Parks and Recreation Month.
One of the greatest natural resources we have in Virginia is the 36 state parks, which are home to thousands of campsites, hundreds of cabins and more than 500 miles of trails.
The Virginia State Parks system offers all Virginians one of the best opportunities for an exciting and rewarding day trip or for a one or two week family vacation. And if you are looking for a relaxing event or days of exploration and activity here are some of the things one can look forward to: boating biking, fishing hiking, picnicking, swimming and exploring just to name a few.
Interested in an economical way to spend quality time with your family or friends? The state parks have just what you looking for. Also, remember that during the summer our parks offer great opportunities to attend excellent concerts.
If you are someone who likes to have fun, and you are also interested in volunteering, your Department of Conservation and Recreation has an opportunity for you.
