RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

As McDonald's rolls out a huge promotional campaign tied in to the Minions movie, the toys in the Happy Meals are making some customers blush.

Multiple customers contacted NBC12 complaining about the Caveman Minion's language. The customers said they thought the Minion toy was using profanity or off-color language.

A McDonald's spokesperson refuted the idea the Minion was using foul language, or even speaking English.

“Minions speak ‘Minionese’ which is a random combination of many languages and nonsense words and sounds," wrote Lisa McComb, Director, McDonald’s Media Relations. "‘Minionese’ has no translation to, or meaning in any recognized language. Any perceived similarities to words used within the English language are purely coincidental.”

McComb went on to say the Minion Caveman is actually saying "para la bukay," "hahaha," and "eh eh.’”
