RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Eight people were taken to the hospital for evaluation after a hazardous material situation in Richmond Tuesday morning.

A container spilled a vinegar-based product around 9:48 a.m. at Central Transport near the intersection of N. Hopkins Road and Jefferson Davis Highway. Crews were able to right the container, neutralize the spill and identify the materials, according to Richmond Fire officials.

Fire officials say no one's life was in danger and there is no further threat to the community.

The eight workers were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Fire crews say they are in good condition.

The 3600 block of N. Hopkins Road remains closed.
