RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond Police Chief Alfred Durham says a "drug deal gone bad" led to a fatal shooting on Thursday afternoon.

Roanoke Street was closed to traffic while police investigated the shooting, reported just before 2 p.m. at the Dunston Manor apartment complex in the 200 block of West Roanoke Street. Chief Durham says officers arriving at the scene and found a man dead in the front passenger seat of a vehicle parked outside the apartments.

According to police, the suspect left the scene in a silver or gray 4-door Pontiac, last seen heading south on Roanoke Street. Anyone with information that can help investigators with this crime can call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.

Durham said Thursday's shooting was the 12th Richmond homicide for 2015. But police do note that figure is down from 20 at the same time in 2014.
