Press release: East coast's premier jazz festival returns to Richmond with star-studded lineup

(RICHMOND, VA) – The highly anticipated Richmond Jazz Festival is back for its sixth year in the River City with another star-studded line up. The annual festival, presented by Altria, brings together thousands of music lovers from across the country for four days in jazz paradise with a spectacle of world-renowned artists. The festival will be taking place August 6-9, 2015, with events at multiple locations throughout Richmond, including Hardywood Brewery, The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, The Hippodrome Theater and, of course, the massive grounds at Maymont.

This year's lineup continues to boast the best in jazz and is expected to draw over 10,000 festival-goers to RVA to watch artists perform on three different stages. This year's roster will cater to both old and new, featuring such names as David Sanborn, New Edition, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Anthony Hamilton, Kirk Whalum, Pat Martino, and The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, along with a plethora of up-and-comers and heavy-hitters gracing the bill. Other notable artists will include Joshua Redman, Macy Gray, and Natalie Cole, with over 30 additional acts set to perform throughout the weekend.

The Richmond Jazz Festival continues to stand out as one of the most anticipated and admired summer festivals on the East Coast, with a larger than ever installment for 2015.

In keeping with tradition, in addition to live jazz, the Festival will also feature complimentary wine tasting by Ste. Michelle Wine Estates as well as chef demonstrations, artist meet-and-greets, and over 30 food and merchandise vendors from across the region. The 100-acre Victorian country estate at Maymont will also provide exclusive access to its exotic gardens and beautiful rolling hills, making for an unforgettable summer festival experience.

In addition to being presented by Altria, the Richmond Jazz Festival has partnered with Virginia is for Lovers, Dominion, and MWV as stage sponsors. Other corporate sponsors

include Richmond Region Tourism, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Richmond BMW, Wells Fargo and Virginia Lottery. Media sponsors include NBC 12 and WCVE Public Radio. A portion of the proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Maymont Foundation, Richmond Public Schools Education Foundation and the Richmond Jazz Society.

Tickets are on sale now! Admission is free to Hardywood Park Craft Brewery and the Jazz Café at VMFA on Thursday, August 6. Tickets will be $30 for "Homegrown at the Hipp" at the Hippodrome Theater on Friday, August 7th. Single-day passes for August 8th and 9th at Maymont are $85, not including fees. Weekend passes are $160 in advance, not including fees. Tickets can also be purchased at the gates, but are subject to increase. Go to for the latest updates and additional ticket information.
