Henrico police charge man for phone theft at gunpoint

A Henrico man faces multiple charges after police say he barricaded himself inside a home after taking someone's phone at gunpoint.

Police said Emory Ray Heiston, 28, is charged with burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, grand larceny and reckless handling of a firearm in connection to the incident Monday, May 25 in the 6300 block of Millhiser Avenue. Police responded to that location around 9:20 p.m. Monday. A victim told police Heiston approached him and told him to hand over his cell phone. Heiston had a firearm on his side, police said. After the victim handed over the firearm, police said Heiston hid in the crawlspace of a home, where police found him and took him into custody.
