Pedestrian struck near Stony Point shopping center

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Police confirmed a driver hit a male pedestrian Sunday near Stony Point shopping center, sending the man to Chippenham Hospital.

The accident happened around 7:35 p.m. in the 9200 block of Forest Hill Avenue.

The man hit by the vehicle is 70 years old, and was reported conscious and aware of his surroundings before medics rushed him to Chippenham Hospital.

According to police, the pedestrian crossed the street outside of the crosswalk, as bright sunlight hit the driver's eyes. Officers filed no charges against the driver.

The person behind the wheel was uninjured in the crash.

The extent of the man's injuries remained unclear into late Sunday, as doctors continued to perform medical evaluations.
