PRINCE GEORGE, VA (WWBT) - Prince George Police said they believe alcohol was a contributing factor to a crash early Sunday morning that killed one person and injured two others.
Police said the vehicle was traveling south on Ruffin Road when it ran off the road, struck a culvert and overturned. The driver, Jesse Tomlin, 25, of Virginia Beach, was taken via helicopter to VCU Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. A passenger, Donna Broadnax, 19, of Hopewell was taken to Southside Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
A second passenger, Shawn Hambleton, 26, of Hopewell, died at the scene, police said.
Prince George Police received a report of the accident around 2 a.m. Sunday, and then responded to the 4600 block of Ruffin Road to investigate. No charges have been filed yet.
