HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - A Spotsylvania woman was arrested following an Ashland crash involving a Hanover County school bus on Friday morning.
Investigators say Christina Martin, 33, was driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. She is charged with: driving under the influence of drugs, possession of heroin, driving without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The school bus suffered only minor damage in the crash on Washington Highway and no students were injured. The bus was headed northbound when it stopped in front of Skateland to pick up children. Investigators say Martin's vehicle struck a Jeep Cherokee from behind, when the Jeep slowed to allow the school bus to board.
The impact sent the Jeep into a brick wall in front of the Dabney Funeral Home. Martin's car then clipped the school bus.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The bus was transporting 24 middle and high school students at the time, none of whom were hurt.
Washington Highway was closed just north of England Street for the investigation.
