RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - UPDATE: The Virginia Department of Transportation says that as of 5:30 pm Thursday, the delays caused by standing water had been cleared.
Heads up for your afternoon commute: a huge backup was created on Interstate 95 North in Richmond, due to standing water.
I-95's left lane was closed for a period of time just south of Boulevard (mile marker 78). That lane reopened around 3:45 p.m., but not before it created a 3-mile backup. Motorists should expect continued delays into rush hour.
Not far from the standing water, a tractor trailer crashed at mile marker 75.8. That scene has also been cleared, but added to the delays.
