RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police are investigating two shootings with a couple of hours just three miles apart in South Richmond Thursday.

One shooting happened just after 3:00 p.m. along the 6500 block of Midlothian Turnpike. A man in his 20s was shot in the Family Dollar parking lot. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died. Police were on the scene until about 6:00 p.m. investigating and directing traffic.

Another shooting happened less than two hours later at Stockton and Spaine Streets. A man was shot multiple times and taken by ambulance to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was seen running down the street in distress, according to police.

At least one man's home was hit with stray bullets. One of the bullets flew through a window nearly hitting a woman standing inside.

"It's sad to say but it's just the world we live in," said one neighbor called Izzy. His young niece and nephew were in the yard playing when the shooting happened right outside his home.
"Makes you a little more worried having your kids outside, but you have to keep living," he said.

Police not said whether the two incidents are related or released any description of the suspects.

Detectives ask anyone who can help the investigation to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000
