Three people are in the hospital for injuries from a crash involving a CARE van near Southside Plaza, according to GRTC.
A vehicle hit the CARE Van at Belt Boulevard near Hull Street around 4 p.m. and left the scene, GRTC said. Crews took the operator and two passengers on-board to the hospital. GRTC did not immediately know their condition. GRTC said the other vehicle involved may have been a tow truck, but Richmond police are still investigating.
GRTC's CARE vehicles provide curb-to-curb Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit services to citizens of the Richmond region, according to GRTC's website. The vehicles help those who wouldn't be able to use GRTC fixed route bus service due to disabilities.
CARE Vans do have security cameras which capture video and audio, and officials said they would use the surveillance to help police, if needed.
