PRINCE GEORGE, VA (WWBT) - State Police confirmed Sunday night that a trooper was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Prince George.
The collision between the trooper's car and the second vehicle happened on S. Crater Road. State Police said both the trooper and the other driver are expected to be OK.
According to state police, the collision happened around 8 p.m. Sunday in the intersection of Rt. 156 and Rt. 35 in Prince George. The crash involved a 2013 Ford Taurus driven by state police and a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. The two vehicles collided at the intersection. State police said the trooper received minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The second driver was not injured.
Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced the closure of all lanes of Route 35 (Courtland Road) at Route 156 (Prince George Drive) due to the crash. Prince George Drive and S. Crater Road converge for a short stretch just north of Courtland Road. All lanes reopened around 9:50 p.m. Sunday, VDOT said.
