FREDERICKSBURG, VA (WWBT) - A Fredericksburg man who went missing last week was found dead Saturday morning.

Police say Jerry Stewart, 51, disappeared on March 26 after leaving his home in the Mayfield neighborhood around 9 a.m. His body was found within a mile of his home, in a dense wooded area along the Blue Grey Parkway.

Stewart had high blood pressure and was diagnosed as bi-polar and schizophrenic. He was believed to be heading to the Planet Fitness in the Eagle Village Shopping Center, considered an almost daily routine.

The cause of death has yet to be determined. Stewart's body has been sent to the Medical Examiner's office in Richmond.
