RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Saving Sweet Briar, Inc., the alumnae group spearheading a campaign to keep the women-only college from closing, is calling for the college's president and board of directors to resign.
In a letter sent by the group's law firm, Troutman Sanders, the group said the college's president and board of directors had breached their duties to the college. "We believe the President and Board have failed to execute their responsibilities as leaders and have breached their fiduciary duties to Sweet Briar College," the letter reads. As an example of that breach, the group said the college's president and board of directors showed secrecy and a lack of transparency while coming to the decision to close the college.
The letter posted on the Saving Sweet Briar website goes on to make several more arguments in favor of the college leadership resigning.
