RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The man facing an attempted capital murder charge, accused of shooting a Richmond Police officer in January, will first go to a competency hearing.
A Richmond grand jury indicted Tamar Harris on charges of attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Harris is accused of shooting Officer Turner several times after a call in the Fulton neighborhood.
Lawyers for Harris requested a competency hearing to see if their client is fit to stand trial. The judge granted the competency hearing request.
Harris is due back in court in May.
