RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Virginia State Police are currently responding to over 25 reported crashes in the area due to icy road conditions.
From 8 a.m. through 12 p.m. Sunday morning, Virginia State Police troopers and dispatchers in the Richmond Metro and surrounding areas have fielded 198 calls for service. During the period Virginia troopers in the Richmond Division responded to 125 traffic crashes and 22 disabled vehicles. The majority of the crashes involved damaged vehicles only. The morning slick roadways contributed to the high volume of calls and crashes.

Six crashes out of the reported 125 involved non-life-threatening injuries.
Motorists are reminded if they have to head out to be alert for icy road conditions; decrease speed, keep a safe following distance, and wear their safety belts.
