RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - VCU remained in the national rankings this week, coming in at number 25 in the AP Poll, after a big road win Saturday at George Washington, and now the Rams return home in hopes of putting a new winning streak together.
Shaka Smart and company welcome Saint Louis to the Siegel Center on Tuesday night for the second regular season meeting of the season between the two teams. The Rams have lost two straight home games for the first time since 2011, and are looking to avoid an upset at the hands of the Atlantic 10 cellar-dwelling Billikins.
VCU enters with a 19-6 overall record, 9-3 in league play, and topped George Washington, 79-66, on Saturday. The Rams put five players in double figures in scoring, including Treveon Graham, who returned after two games on the sidelines with an injured ankle.
Saint Louis has lost five of its last six since last meeting the Rams, and is coming of a loss at Rhode Island.
Back on January 23, VCU nipped the Billikins in Saint Louis, 63-61. Graham's lay-up with 0.8 seconds remaining pushed the Rams to the win. The two teams met in a highly anticipated match-up in their last meeting at the Siegel Center, when Saint Louis was ranked tenth in the country.
VCU enters this match-up as one of four teams tied atop the Atlantic 10 standings. The Rams are deadlocked with Dayton, Rhode Island and UMass with six regular season games to go for each team.
Tip-off on Tuesday is set for 7:30pm.
