KING GEORGE, VA (WWBT) - The Virginia Department of Corrections is now identifying a Stafford Diversion Center driver killed in a Saturday morning crash in King George County.
Officials tell us James Toombs was transporting nine divertees from a worksite in Stafford when the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Route 301 and Route 3 around 1 a.m. Toombs later died at the hospital. "Our thoughts are with Mr. Toombs' wife and family and our hearts go out to them," said VADOC Director Harold Clarke.
Four of the nine divertees have been treated and released from the hospital.
The cause of the accident is not known; the accident is under investigation by the King George County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police.
