Henrico chase suspect drives down wrong way on one-way street

A police chase spanning Henrico into Richmond, Monday evening, ended in a wreck. Richmond police say the pursuit started on Chamberlayne Avenue in Henrico. Ultimately, the suspect crashed into another driver at the intersection of Overbrook and Miller Roads, by Battery Park in Richmond, ending the chase.

Richmond investigators say the suspect, driving a red SUV, was able to lose police. He then sped the wrong way down Miller Road, a one-way street. The suspect crashed into another driver in a silver Kia, heading down Overbrook Road.

Nearby officers tracking the chase were already setting up a perimeter to block off the area. They responded moments after the impact, according to detectives.

Neighbor Bryant Jacobs watched the collision from his home across the street.

"The truck went across, and a grey car was coming up the street and bam!...Something you'd see on t.v.," said Jacobs.

The innocent driver plowed into a brick wall near a church.

"Basically knocked her out of the passenger side of the door," described Jacobs.

The suspect ran over a fire hydrant, and was eventually carted away to the hospital. The driver of the Kia was also rushed to VCU Medical Center. None of the injuries are life threatening. No passengers were in either of the cars. No officers were hurt.

Charges are pending as per the outcome of the investigation.
