RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - For the last six years VCU has participated in National Give a Kid a Smile Day.
"Many, many families have brought their children here because they have difficulty receiving care for a whole variety of reasons. Cost of care, access to care," said David Sarrett, Dean of the VCU Dental School.
Dentists and students volunteered their time so that any family who came in could get the care they needed at no cost.
Two hundred people signed up for the event but others were walk in patients.
The Dean of the Dental School, David Sarrett, says volunteers will stay until everyone who shows up sees a dentist. Dentists weren't just cleaning teeth, they were ready to tackle almost any oral issue.
"My youngest son is actually having several teeth pulled, he got some crowns and he'll have them cleaned as well," said April Pleasants who's children saw a dentist.
