HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A woman was burned trying to save the people she lives with from a house fire in the East End.

The fire started around 3:30 a.m. in the 4900 block of Chapman Lane.

Three people were in the house when the fire started. One person woke up early, saw the smoke and alerted the others. She then called the fire department and got everyone out okay.

The three adults are now being assisted by the Red Cross.

Fire crews say one person was burned, and the house appears to be a total loss. The cause is still under investigation.

Part of Williamsburg Road was shut down while crews battled the fire. It is now back open.
