CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - One man is dead and another faces a second degree murder charge after a shooting in Chesterfield early Thursday morning.

Police arrested Sherman Hurrye Jr., 37, shortly after the shooting.

Police responded to the 3000 block of Tinsberry Drive around 3:15 a.m. and found Terrell J. Brown, 35, deceased in the front yard of a home from a gunshot wound. A witness gave a description of the suspect's vehicle as the suspect fled the scene.

Police later found the suspect's vehicle on I-95 South near Woods Edge Road and arrested the suspect.

Hurrye Jr. faces second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Thursday, NBC12 caught up with the victim's brother on the scene. James Brown came here to see where his brother took his final breaths. He says the Brown family is still reeling and looking for answers after Thursday's early morning shooting.

Brown says he doesn't know Sherman Hurrye, Junior. But police say his brother did. They tell us the men had an ongoing argument when the shooting happened.

With the help of a witness' description of the car, Hurrye was arrested a short time later.

The crime scene also provided some tense moments for parents and children. Neighbors tell NBC12 the bus stop was moved because it was so close to the murder scene.

"That's the unfortunate part - because there were some children in high school that went to the regular bus stop before they knew that they had changed it and witnessed the body. And my daughter texted me and said that some of the kids did see the body that was just laying there," said mom Pamela Ballard.

The school bus was back at its regular spot Thursday afternoon.
