Weber's VCU career prematurely ends due to injury

Weber leaves mark on VCU, college hoops

VCU senior guard Briante Weber's season and career as a Ram has been prematurely cut short.

The energetic face of Havoc tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus during VCU's 64-55 loss to Richmond on Saturday afternoon. He will have surgery to repair the injuries.

Weber was just 12 steals shy of setting the NCAA all-time career record. He finishes his career with 374 total steals, including 121 last season.

Weber has set VCU and Atlantic 10 records in both single season and all-time steals. He was averaging 3.9 steals per game this season, good enough for tops in the nation. He was also averaging 8.1 points per contest.

JeQuan Lewis and Jonathan Williams are the other point guards on the Rams' roster. Lewis will most likely move into the starting role.

Weber leaves behind a legacy at VCU that will be remembered for a long time. He made his defensive presence known almost immediately during his freshman season, and grew into the nation's most feared defender.
