Deep Run silences big crowd at Godwin to headline Friday hoops

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Deep Run boys basketball team got a quality road win Friday night, beating Mills Godwin, 65-51.

The gym was packed with enthusiastic student sections for both schools.  Also in attendance was VCU guard Briante Weber, cheering on former teammate and Godwin assistant coach Darius Theus.

Also on Friday Trinity beat St. Christopher's for the second time this month.  The Titans won 40-37 on a last-second buzzer-beater three pointer.

Friday night also marked the third annual "We Back Pat" game at JR Tucker that raised money for Alzheimer's disease.  The Tiger girls beat visiting Douglas Freeman 68-35.  Junior Anne Marie Beran, who organized the event, scored her 1,000th career point in the game.
