6 people injured in crash on I-85 South in Dinwiddie

DINWIDDIE, VA (WWBT) - Two helicopters were called to fly several people to area hospitals after a crash on Interstate 85 southbound in Dinwiddie.

Six people were injured in the crash near mile marker 52.5 around 1:15 p.m. All lanes were closed, but have since reopened.

Police say a 2005 Chevrolet Express Van ran off the left side of the road, over-corrected and hit a 1999 Ford pickup. The Chevrolet flipped several times before coming to rest on its roof. Six people were in the Chevrolet van. Four were ejected from the vehicle.

Two were transported to MCV Hospital via med-flight. The other four were transported to Southside Regional Hospital all with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford pickup was not injured.

57-year-old Linda Brown was driving the Chevrolet and was wearing a seatbelt. She has been charged with Reckless Driving.

The crash remains under investigation.
