HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - A Mechanicsville man is under arrest after being accused of several sexual assaults involving an 11-year-old boy, and investigators are looking for other victims in the case.
Darwin Noble, 72, was arrested by the Hanover County Sheriff's Office on December 18 on two felony sexual assault warrants.
He was indicted on January 12 on three counts of felony sexual assault out of New Kent involving the victim. Noble was already in custody and the warrants were executed on January 13.
"During the course of the investigation with the help of New Kent County, we determined the young man had been assaulted on numerous occasions in New Kent County," explains Major Michael Trice, Hanover County Sheriff's Office.
The New Kent Sheriff's Office confirms that Darwin and his alleged victim met at a campground in New Kent.
But, questions in the case remain:
"We don't have a particular job, assignment or position that he (Noble) was associated with that he may have utilized to access children," says Major Michael Trice, Hanover County Sheriff's Office.
Major Trice won't say how Noble met boy, but says the investigation dates back to last summer.
We went to Noble's house this afternoon looking for answers.
But, no one came to the door.
Darwin Noble remains held without bond in the Pamunkey Regional Jail.
Investigators tell us he's involved in other active cases.
Noble is due back in a Hanover County courtroom on February 5th.
