RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Six points have been the difference in Richmond's current spot in the Atlantic 10 standings. Three point losses to George Washington and Dayton on the road have helped the Spiders to a 3-3 conference record, and have kept them from sitting near the top of the league. Wednesday they hope to begin that hopeful climb.
Richmond welcomes Duquesne to the Robins Center. The Spiders enter with a 10-9 overall record and coming off that heart-breaking loss to Dayton. However, they've been a completely different team on their home court, winning all three A-10 games so far and only losing twice in their own building this season. Kendall Anthony ranks seventh in the league in scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game.
The Dukes come in at 6-12, 1-6 in conference play, and 1-5 on the road this season. Derrick Colter paces them with 12.7 points per outing, while Micah Mason also averages in double figures at 10.8 points per game. Since topping St. Joseph's, Duquesne has lost five straight games, one a three point overtime defeat at the hands of St. Bonaventure, another a one point heart-breaker to Rhode Island.
Last season, Richmond topped Duquesne twice, both by 76-64 scores. The Spiders won in Pittsburgh, then topped the Dukes in Brooklyn in the first round of the conference tournament.
Tip-off on Wednesday is set for 7:00 at the Robins Center.
