HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Last year at this time, Varina graduate Michael Robinson was preparing for the Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks. Now retired, Robinson is in the broadcast booth for NFL Network, but before heading to Arizona for the big game, stopped at his old stomping grounds for some time with his Team EXCEL students.
Team EXCEL is Robinson's foundation that helps teach students about academics, life lessons and career exploration. It's ultimate goal is to help young people become productive citizens of society. Thursday afternoon saw Robinson at John Rolfe Middle School in Henrico County, working with kids on marketing and branding. The students designed their own logos and brands in an effort to help them understand what's important about marketing.
Robinson will travel to Arizona next week and cover Super Bowl XLIX for the NFL Network. He says he notices some differences being on the media side of things, but adds that the transition has been smooth.
