L.C. Bird, Trinity grab Wednesday wins

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - L.C. Bird's boys basketball team got 23 points from C.J. Miles to fuel a 79-56 win over Cosby on Wednesday night, giving the Skyhawks the season sweep of the Titans.

Kenny Williams's three pointer in the final seconds of the second quarter gave Bird a 39-26 lead at halftime and the Skyhawks would cruise from there. Williams scored 21 points in the effort.

Bird improves to 11-1 and heads to Manchester on Friday, while the Titans fall to 7-6 and host James River on Friday as well.

In private school action, Trinity pulled away in the second half to top Benedictine, 71-48. It was the Titans' second win in a row over their area rival.

Trinity held a slim 31-29 lead at halftime, but opened it up in the third, holding the Cadets without a field goal for about nine minutes.

Josh Brown scored 28 points to fuel the Titans win, while Zane Lewis chipped in 15 points.
